For Seekers – Practices for Soul & Spirit – Weekly Practice

Each week I pull Tarot cards to inspire practice that cultivates soul wisdom for readers of the blog as a group using the Gaian Tarot.  (If you want to read more about the process, check out Sacred Practices of the Gaian Tarot: The 3 P’s).You are invited to use the cards below to inspire your practice, and, if you like, share your reflections in the comments.  You are also free to draw your own cards and share them in the comments.

gaian ace-firePATH:  Use Pile 1 / Majors and Aces to pull a card for the question:  What path would it best serve us to walk this week? ACE OF FIRE  invites us to walk this week on pathways of  …

  • New beginnings
  • Bursting out of the dark into the light.
  • Recognizing the spark of the new and tending to it.

gaian two-firePRACTICE:  Use Pile 2 / numbered cards for this question:  What practice(s) will best serve us to move along this path this week?  TWO OF FIRE  invites us to practices such as …

  • Mark Hanukkah by lighting the menorah (one more candle lit on each of the eight nights), celebrating tradition, miracles, abundance.
  • Get out to a Winter Solstice celebration that includes a bonfire. Dance with the flames and your fellow revelers. Contemplate the deep potential of these celebration of light in the darkness.
  • Spend some time looking your deep desires in the eyes. What are they really? Do you really want to dance with them?

childoffirePOSTURE:  Use Pile 3 / People cards for a question such as:  What attitudes and behaviors will be most helpful to undertake this practice and walk with path? CHILD OF FIRE   invites you to follow your path and practices with attitudes of …

  • Rapt attention.
  • Fascination and focus.
  • Cultivating your capacity for awe and delight.
  • Delight in the moment for what is what is in front of you (forgetting the dark that is behind).

OVERALL MUSINGS: Could these be more perfect cards for the week that contains Hanukkah, the new moon, and the Solstice? You might suspect I selected them rather than had them emerge from a random draw, but I promise you I pulled by chance and received this mirror of a week in which we have shortest days, longest nights, a festival of light, and the re-birth of the sun.  So along with the Child of Fire, I wish for you a time of deep nurture in the dark and delight in the promise of new light.
